Is auto insurance required in Oklahoma?

Simply stated, yes, you must have liability coverage. The required amount is 25/50/25. This is $25,000 for injuries sustained by one person in an accident with a maximum of $50,000 for more than 1 person. The other $25,000 is for damage to property.

Can I have more than one car on my auto insurance?

Yes, you can. While most insurance companies won’t balk at several, they may ask questions about usage. If one is a seasonal vehicle, be sure to let them know.

What does comprehensive auto insurance cover?

Comprehensive is an optional coverage that you can choose to carry on your vehicle. This insurance is not required unless you have an auto loan or are leasing a vehicle. Known as non-collision coverage, it covers other things that can damage your vehicle. It covers weather-related damage like floods or wind damage. Coverage extends to the glass on your vehicle and also vandalism. If your car is stolen, this is the coverage that replaces it.

What does my deductible apply to?

You choose a deductible that you have to pay before your coverage begins, but that only applies to comprehensive and collision coverage. You do not have to pay the deductible on a liability claim.
